Ingredients for Meringues
4 Egg Whites
Pinch of salt
1 Cup or 220 grams of castor sugar
Half teaspoon vanilla essence
Preparation and baking take some time but be patient. These meringues are cheap to make and is just as tasty as the one you buy from the baker around the corner
You can add colouring if you want to try different colours to impress your guests
Bake your own meringues in only 5 steps – let’s go!
Preheat oven to 120°c and. line two baking trays with non-stick baking paper. Don’t use spay and cook or other anti-grease agents for this recipe
Place 4 egg whites and a pinch of salt and place it in a mixing bowl. Beat the egg whites and salt with an electric mixer until it becomes soft and fluffy. Ad the castor sugar with a large table spoon while whisking until the sugar dissolves.
When you are satisfied that the sugar is dissolved add the vanilla essence and whisk for 3 min on high speed.
Spoon the meringue mix onto the lined trays and place in the oven. Turn down the temperature to 90°C . After 1 and a half hour turn off the heat and leave the meringues in the oven to cool of completely.
When the meringues has cooled you can place them in a container that is airtight or serve right away.
Not only can you add colouring to your meringues but you can you flavoured syrups or other decorating toppings to make your meringues even more appealing to guest’s
